I remember…

I remember.

I remember when time were slow, cars were low, and we would feel the fall of snow.

Now time is fast, cars are rash, and the cold wind cuts like glass.

I remember.

Quatrains

A Quatrain is a four-line poem or stanza.
Nostradamus used this format to express his predictions.

Contemplation; how far to take it
Honesty opens the door for shimmer
Too much light and self may dimmer
We wear our clothes; no man is naked

A tick tock with gears a turning
Man in East and man in West
From each side we yearn with zest
And we’ll meet through soul that’s burning

From awake to asleep
We fall to the sounds of thy sheep
Was unclear to our ears
Now we see when we face our fears

What do we want with all this mess
If we knew what would it be
Take his hand you will be blessed
Only God can imagine the things we see

Changing topic, noun and light
Everything seems so bright
But for now the scene can’t change
For I have not learned how to make this plane

Born and raised by a she
Taught and shown by man in leaves
Put to rest by her touch
Both his hands can never know how rough

Breaking bread then scorning later
I’ll spare the hate and do you favors
Leave you alone but you keep on back
I’m not a friend but loyal to that

you roll the die and ask why
I do not thrive in chance or lie
I know the way and the way is known
For who I become will sit on throne

There are no rules

There are stellar amounts of Gurus, Scientists, Holy Men, Prophets, Visionaries, Teachers, Professors, Philosophers, Parents, Employers, Icons, Celebrities, and friends who think they know what is best for you. Yes it is true that they know some things about you, but their realities are nothing like yours. You may look to various outlets for guidance but the one thing that is bringing you down the most is your relationship with your own identity. You have spent your entire life reinforcing who you think you are because you feel as though you have to be an ideal. Ideals are born out of the past and you feel it is a must to guide you through the future. This is true to a degree, but most of these beliefs about yourself are misconceptions derived from what you think you should be. The ego loves continuity; you have a sense of identification with the world because of it, but in all actuality you ARE the world, so there are no rules.

Reprogramming your Brain: A brief introduction to negativity

I am sure you have heard the term- vicious cycle. A vicious cycle is a negative custom that is carried our over and over. For instance, a vicious cycle that one may go through is their day job. If you are a 9-5er (this blog isn’t about the evils of work, it’s about the evils of our minds), you wake up and get ready for work. You think about the day and what plans you have after work. You get to work and you finish the work day. Throughout this time, many people focus on what they will do after working. They think about kicking back and drinking a beer, or maybe they have to make dinner for the kids. This is fine, but it is not fine when looking forward to getting off of work is not out of excitement for these activities, but as an escape. Since people are so focused on what to do later, they miss out on the opportunity to use “the now” to learn from themselves.

Most of people’s work has become so routine, that they don’t even need to think about what they are doing; they just do it. They could do it miserably or do it joyfully depending on how they are feeling at the time. Maybe one day this week you were at work and you preferred to be on a Farris Wheel and negative thoughts came into your mind. Thoughts like, “I don’t like doing this work” or “My boss sucks.” Perhaps you contemplated your own life, and started to think that you were wasting your time.

We have been programmed to trigger these mental routines depending on our mental states. Remember that positivity and negativity are modes of thinking that embody are thoughts. We feel bad, angry or envious when we believe that we should feel bad, angry, or envious because of some outside stimulus; therefore, ingraining a belief system into ourselves. We consciously and subconsciously run these negative programs every Day, Month, Year, and Decade. We do not have to. We choose to do so out of lack of imagination that there could be something else to contemplate. There are times that we SHOULD be negative, but we believe those times come more frequently than necessary. It’s not that we need to be free from negativity, but we should not be a slave to it.

Instead of becoming negative because of an event, You can free yourself from continuous degrading and dreadful thoughts. Suppose someone at work makes you look like an idiot. Instead of focusing on how idiotic you are, you could decide to envision a flower blooming and simultaneously count to ten while imagining its petals stretching upwards. Maybe you worked with somebody you dislike and all you you could think about is a fantastical confrontation; actually, you could feel pity for them and have provided a good gesture. It could be that you aren’t so great at conversing with your colleague, and you usually dread future dialogue, but you plan ahead this time, proposing a new subject while intending to better your approach.

Things will not always go our way and we will become upset. This happens to everybody. This aggravation is a living thing inside us all, but we do not need to manifest it. We could be using our discomfort for constructive purposes instead. After all, if we were perfect, there would be nothing to strive towards.

The Journey of Thought: Making Mistakes

We can give ourselves a hard time when we can’t invoke a lost idea or fumble mentally in a given situation. It can be anything from something as trivial as forgetting a TV game show host’s name, or forgetting an epiphany that arose through some parsing of ideas that were generated separately at first, but have now came to a confluence. Usually, when speaking fails, it is because one is either worried about their image, or their reason behind their story is pretentious. It does not matter the case, negativity is released upon ones own ego if we scorn ourselves for making a mental mistake. Some people believe that they are inherently stupid, and scorn themselves verbally out loud amongst others. In turn, others start to somewhat believe this to be true, but most people are not stupid, just misguided.

Instead of persecuting ourselves, we can appreciate the ability to analyze a situation, and not necessarily have an answer, but applaud ourselves for having an analytical intelligence. Continuing positively allows one to stick to their unique vision. It is kind of like the adage “It’s not the goal, it’s the journey,” or something to that extent.

If you put sole priority on the goal of your thought, rather than prioritizing journey, you will lose most of the authenticity and purpose. If you are over-critical of your thinking pattern, your train of thought can halt, spontaneity discontinues and it picks up ideals on the way that create self-doubt (like, “I should of known that, or”). The train of thought is dispirited, because worry enters the mind; we can’t look past our error at the time. This partially explains why some people have a hard time relaying what they are saying and the life of meaning is lost in ramble and obscurity. We place a lot of emphasis on the self at these times rather than the joy of expressing an idea.

On the other side of the coin, passionate orators can display huge believability because they are not focused on the self and reason, but the true nature of the idea and the expression behind it. It is true imagery and artistry. How come some people can make a point that sounds true, but when a different person explains the same notion, it just doesn’t seem believable? True, it is the passion, belief, experience, education, wisdom, and overall charisma that a great speaker is projecting. But, there is something else and I believe that it is visualization and imagery that is telepathically transferred from the speaker to another individual. It was the imagery, expression and true nature that projected itself onto the listener.

Putting emphasis on the journey of thought, and not so much the goal itself, allows us to exercise the imagination, and the joy of using our heads. Not so much the solidification of our own egos.

Other quotes taken out of chronological order:

Every step that Kobe Bryant takes to the basket successfully, I take another step towards the toilet disgustingly.

It is proof that you don’t need to have class to be a champion.

Sharks

Our minds are like islands that sit lonely in the middle of the Ocean.

The Island sits.

Other Islands are nearby, but seem so far away.

Our thoughts are like water.

Water nourishes.

It also separates.

The Ocean fosters many funny fish, bumbling crabs, fickle whales, playful dolphins and vicious sharks.

Some of these things are naturally scary and some of them are naturally pleasant.

Humans are like intentions and inhabit the island.

Fisherman enter the mercurial waters to look for food.

They fish when hungry.

Some bring back an abundance, and some bring back a morsel.

Some enter and never come back.

Either way, something is obtained whether it be corporeal or imaginary.

The Island sits.

Anger

To quote David Hume:

To hate, to love, to think, to feel, to see; all this is nothing but to perceive. – David Hume

We invoke ideas to create emotion in ourselves, and vise versa- we create images to bring emotions to our mental forefront, as to form ideas for many reasons; we also manipulate images and ideas out of temperment (See Sir Francis Bacon’s Idols of the Cave) because we of anger and it distorts our perception.

We add more and more ideas and thoughts so our emotions gain staggering momentum, and our images provide a great magnitude. We need to be more careful about what we place importance on in terms of our opinion on ideas.

We become angry a lot of the time because we feel we must become angry; it is not entirely necessary to do so. If something bothers us we put a lot of emphasis on victimization and how we are somehow “chosen” to receive this misfortune. We sometimes think that we do not want to be angry, but on the contrary, we decide to do be angry. Of course anger is natural, warranted and a part of human experience, but most anger we generate is over something trivial. We enjoy our anger! But we also become miserable from it! We enjoy this misery because it gives us a sense of self, it is a venting of emotion; an explosion is going on inside us.

Knowing the reason behind our anger is paramount in reducing it. Reading up on psychology allows us to gain a better understanding about how anger functions. Asking ourselves questions and giving honest answers is key to realization about the nature, reason, existence, and power of anger. We can ask ourselves the following questions:

1. Am I truly angry? Is it natural, or am I fabricating it?
2. Do I have a good reason to be angry about this? Is it worth venting or is it something that I am creating?
3. Why is it existing right now? Is it just my problem? Am i projecting my ideas onto someone else?
4. Does this anger have real power over me?

Next time, try not to be so angry. :)

We are not innocent

We are all not innocent, but knowing that doesn’t make it right to do harm.

Harm done to others is based on the lack of peace inside oneself, and driven through the false idea that others deserve it. One believes another deserves harm because that person did something wrong, or maybe they assume that person is not innocent in thought and/or in action. This may be the case, But we must treat people with respect as though they are renewed daily. There is a time for justice, but a lot of our judgments come from our own prejudices, and we believe we are in the right. Other people have the right to behave as they like, as long as it is not hurting others to further their agenda and soul. Not because this is morally correct, but our essential nature is to manifest harmony in oneself, and unduly harm is born out of inner imbalances; true, we harm others for personal gain outside of judgment, and these situations are conditional and complex.

Through forgiveness we allow others to change, but we do not owe time to others. That is a gift.

“God made man in his own image.”

This statement taken from The Bible is something that I wanted to reflect on. To take this notion as-is, written, is to assume that God has a thinking mind; out of his own agenda and out of reason and understanding, created man. I choose not to look at it this way at all times.

I first want to first invoke and briefly translate the quote by Eckart Tolle: “Man made God in his own image.” This statement, to me, suggests that man’s mind looking at itself, creates the image of God out of assumption that a greater power exists with human tendency. To a major degree this is true, but I want to recapitulate The Bible’s statement: ‘God Made Man In His Own Image’. Once you take it literally you give up any further discussion about its meaning and believe it blindly; basing it on prior dogma.

There is another way to look at this. God used here, if you will, represents the “all-encompassing energy” and this energy has its own way of doing things; a kind of overmind. It conceives reality (it itself is reality) by evolving this physical matter- our brains, so it has an angle to perceive from. This I believe, could be the reason why Jesus “called himself God” in Catholicism. So God in this instance, is not a single deity that makes human-like decisions (decisions based on judgment, justice, personal gain, impulse, etc.), but a force that has a functionality outside of our scope of true understanding, and we are the vehicle- a reflection of God. This energy, and this reflection is being filtered through our brain as to be used as a tool for some unknown reason (we can speculate about those reasons in another blog).

I will sum this up by asking the question: “What is the best way for a mind to further progression in the state of affairs to which it holds up high in regard to reason?” Simple, create more minds!
